Hurricanes Hit St. Louis
The '97 Hurricanes stormed into St. Louis for the 2007 Mid West Cup May 18-20 bring both the Black and White Squad to play. The Black Squad won their first match 3-0 but dropped their second and third matches. Unfortunately the White Squad were without a victory in their three matches. The team continued the tradition of ending their season with an out of town tournament. The boys enjoyed traveling together, playing soccer, and seeing the sights of St. Louis.

May 07 Team and Family Picnic
The families and friends of the '97 Hurricanes teams came together for a wonderful day at the HYSA pavilion. Hamburgers and hot-dogs on the grill, chips, veggies and dip, cookies and the most amazing homemade cake were on the menu. The boys played games and succeeded in getting very grimy. Moms, Dads, Sisters, Brothers, and friends all had fun. Thanks to Karen and Hal Abbott for coordinating this wonderful afternoon. What a wonderful group of people!

Hurricanes Secure April Championship
April 20-21, 2007. The '97 Hurricanes Black Squad were crowned CHAMPIONS at their home tournament in Nashville, TN (Music City Invitational). Starting with an impressive win against SW Illinois 7-0, the boys stumbled with a late Saturday loss to the Cobras from Missouri . This lead to a match up against an excellent team from Memphis, TN in the semi-finals on Sunday morning. The boys won in a stellar match against Memphis (Germantown Fury) in the Semi-finals 1-0 (many said this was the best soccer match of the tournament). In the Championship match, a hard fought against Huntsville's United Club, the Hurricanes prevaled 2-1. The boys posted a 3-1 tournament record and captured the championship in grand style, playing cohesive and inspirited soccer.

Hurricanes' Black Squad Take 2nd Place at SRFC Tourney
Although not playing their best soccer over the April 1st weekend, the Black Squad of the '97 Hurricanes captured 2nd place in the Stones River Futbol Club Spring Shootout tournament in Smyrna Tennessee. The lads fell in the championship match 2-0 to the Memphis Club "Tennessee Rush". Taking nothing away from the TN Rush Club who played very well, and did not allow a single goal in 4 matches, our boys gave a good physical effort but seemed not to be able to gel as a team this weekend. Coach Jose Londono said the boys were "very inconsistent when it came to executing the proper skill at the right time." Practice resumes with a focus on improvement that will be needed for the upcoming HFC Music City Inv. Tournament in mid April.

3/4/07 Friendly Matches, Black Squad
The 97 Hurricanes Black Squad posted a 5-1 victory over TNFC, followed by a lost to Murfreesboro 3-1 at matches played in Franklin. Having to play back to back games on a full size field proved too much this early in the season for the Hurricanes in their second match.

Unfortunately the Sunday games were cancelled and the boys were unable to test themselves against the North Atlanta Soccer Assoc. Club who were unbeaten in their first two tourney matches. The lads showed their true competitive spirit and soccer skill in this initial test of the Spring 2007 season.
